What Thai Pournami is known for
Thaipoosam is the day the Poosam star meets the Thai full moon. Murugan temples come alive with padayatra walks to Palani, kavadi and vel-piercing. At Vadalur's Sathya Gnana Sabha the seven screens are drawn back one by one to show the lamp Vallalar lit, the Jothi Darisanam of this day.
As on every full moon, people walk girivalam round Tiruvannamalai and other hills, and homes keep the Satyanarayana puja.
