Namma Calendar - Privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Namma Calendar (the app) is a Tamil calendar that works entirely on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
Who we are. The app is made by Sripathi M. Questions about this policy: support@nammacalendar.com.
What we collect. Nothing. The app has no internet access: it does not ask Android for permission to use the internet at all. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics or crash-reporting tools. The developer receives no information about you or about how you use the app.
What stays on your phone. So the calendar can be worked out for you, the app keeps these on your phone only: your settings (city, recently chosen cities, language, text size, detail level, reminders, rasi and birth star), the events you add and their names, the sraddha thithi entries you add and their labels (for example "Appa"), and a record of recent reminders for the Inbox. Birth details you enter for Porutham, including any names, are used only for that calculation and are not saved.
Location. The app uses only your approximate location, never your precise location, and only if you allow it. If you tap "Use my location", the app asks Android for your approximate position to pick the nearest city. If you have allowed location, the app may also read Android's last known approximate position, on your phone, to suggest a city when you first set the app up, to show nearby cities in the city list, and once each time you open the app to ask whether you would like to switch to the city you now seem to be in. The position is only compared with the app's built-in city list on your phone and is never sent anywhere. If you answer that question with "Keep my city", the app keeps that approximate position on your phone for 30 days (at most 20 such places) only so that it does not ask you about the same place again; nothing else about your position is stored. Only the city you choose is saved. You can always pick a city yourself, and you can take the location permission away at any time in Android's settings; the app works fully without it.
Notifications and alarms. If you set reminders, the app shows notifications on your phone at the times you choose. To deliver them on time it uses Android's alarms, and it sets them again after the phone restarts. You can turn reminders off in the app's Settings or in Android's settings. The good-morning note is on from the start: it is scheduled on your phone for 7 am, needs the notification permission (the app asks once), sends nothing anywhere, and can be turned off in Reminders.
Sharing. When you tap share, the app makes a picture (of the day, the month, or a Porutham result) and hands it to the app you choose (for example, WhatsApp). To offer those apps, it checks whether WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or Telegram is installed; it reads nothing from them. What happens after you share is governed by that app's own policy.
Rating the app. If you choose to rate the app, it opens the Google Play Store page for it. Nothing is sent by this app.
Backups and deleting your data. The app's data is not included in Android's cloud backups, and it is not copied to a new phone when you transfer your data between phones. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes everything it has stored.
Children. The app is not directed at children, and it collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy. If a future version adds features that collect data, such as ads, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and your consent will be asked for wherever the law requires it. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

This website uses no cookies, ads or tracking tools. It stores only your own choices (language, large text, city, rasi, and the notice lines you closed) in your own browser (localStorage); they never reach us. Dates, times and places you enter in the thevasam calculator, the porutham calculator and the birth star finder are worked out in your browser and never sent anywhere or stored. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, page, time) for security, as every web host does.
