Crescent time, for Chennai: the first time is the true sunset, when the sun really sets (Thirukanithaⓘதிருக்கணிதம்: Modern astronomical reckoning that matches the observed sky.); the second is when the crescent sets. The crescent is watched in the sky, so the sky's own times count; the Vakya almanac's sunset is a few minutes later. Wait 10–15 minutes after sunset and look a little above where the sun went down.
